Dr Ramphele keynote speaker for African Education Week
African Education Week has announced Dr Mamphela Ramphele as the keynote speaker for 2013. Continuing with the theme of ‘Positive Leadership’ this year, Education Week believes it to be apt for the inspirational figure, Dr. Ramphele, to be present and address the people who directly serve and influence the learners and students of South Africa. Dr Ramphele’s exceptional example of leadership has been witnessed throughout her formidable career in education, politics, medicine and business.
Dr Ramphele has served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Town, been managing director of the World Bank, and currently chairs Technology Innovation Agency (TIA). Dr Ramphele is also a respected author who has promoted societal change through activism during Apartheid, founding the Citizens and most recently as the political leader of Agang.
With four weeks left to the event, it will soon be time for everyone within Southern Africa education community to gather and enter into an interactive dialogue and exchange of ideas to effectively change our education landscape.
