Our Vision
To be South Africa’s preferred, recognised, representative and inclusive professional association for booksellers.
To be South Africa’s preferred, recognised, representative and inclusive professional association for booksellers.
Guided by Ubuntu, SABA is a trusted and united voice that strengthens the book trade, champions ethical and sustainable bookselling, and expands access to books, reading and learning for every community. We support booksellers as vital curators of knowledge, culture and education; advocates for fair and effective industry policy; promotes skills development, business resilience and transformation; and works across the wider book value chain to build a literate, informed and economically vibrant South Africa.
Provide legitimate membership of a professional industry body, with a Constitution, Code of Conduct and dispute-resolution process that supports trusted service.
Promote business development, small-business support, BBBEE initiatives and discounted training for a vibrant, capable bookseller community.
Represent members in the media, issue clear sector responses, and provide research, statistics, trend and technology information.
Participate in national book events and support literacy, reading and government initiatives that help build a reading nation.
Create access to book-development agencies, government departments, libraries, educators and procurement stakeholders through forums and representation.
Keep members connected to publishers, directory listings, advertising opportunities and social-media promotion for bookshop events and literacy initiatives.
SABA connects booksellers with publishers, government, libraries, schools and other partners across the
book value chain, strengthening access to books, reading and learning throughout South Africa.
