Industry leaders discuss digital publishing at upcoming Footnote Summit
Following on the success of the launch event in 2013, this year’s Footnote Summit will see leading publishers, content providers, and suppliers to the publishing industry reconvene for this annual event on the 13th of June 2014 at the CTICC in Cape Town.
The conference will have a strong focus on digital publishing and will highlight eLearning, the accessibility of eBooks in schools, as well as piracy and DRM.
Some of the speakers include Malcolm Seegers from Macmillan Education, Arthur Attwell from Paperight, Barbara Mallinson from Obami, Kobus van Wyk from Mustek, and Wesley Lynch from Snapplify. The conference format will see a few keynote speakers address the audience as well as multiple panel discussions highlighting complex topics. Sponsors of the event include Realmdigital, Snapplify.com, and Mustek Limited.
Digital Publisher of Macmillan Education, Malcolm Seegers comments, “The 2013 Footnote Summit was a very useful event for digital publishing in South Africa. The presentations covered different publishing industries; and it was good to see what others were doing with digital. While everyone is still finding their feet with digital publishing, such an event is a great help to share concerns and get ideas for the future. We look forward to next year’s summit to continue the discussion.” You can hear Malcolm speak at the Footnote Summit 2014 event.
This year, Footnote Summit attendees will also get free access to the South African Book Fair. Registration has officially opened and ticket bookings can be made via the event website at www.footnotesummit.com.
