Immer Wes – Irma Joubert

Nielsen Booksellers’ Awards Shortlisted Book

Immer Wes, by Irma Joubert, is shortlisted for Nielsen Booksellers' Choice Awards.

It is a shock when she sees Gustav again at one of the baron’s many functions. The hardships of the war, however, has taken its toll and there is little left of the once beautiful and rich woman. He did not recognize her immediately. She makes an effort to ensure that it stays that way because the humiliation would be too much for her with her calloused hands, her dull hair and her skinny body.

Irma Joubert has achieved unprecedented success abroad with six of her books translated into Dutch. This includes Far Beckons the Southern Cross, Between Stations, Tumbleweed, Beyond Pontenilo, Persomi and Winding Road. Between Stations was published as The Girl in the Train in 2011, since then its popularity has increased annually and the books have sold a total of 85,000 copies across the six titles. In 2014 Winding Road was awarded the prize for the most popular translated Christian work in the Netherlands. In 2008, Irma was a finalist for the ATKV Woord¬veertjieprys for Prose for Between Stations and Irma Joubert won the ATKV Word Feather Award for Romance Novels in 2010.
