SABC Education African EduWeek is widely regarded as the premier education event on the African continent. Now entering its 9th year, African EduWeek 2015, is taking place at the Gallagher Convention Center in Midrand on the 1st and 2nd July will showcase over 120 international exhibitors, host free-to-attend education seminars, offer a new high-level technology conference E-Tech Africa, as well as technical workshops designed to enhance teacher training and development. “This event is all about the teachers and how we can empower them to go back to their classrooms with new ideas, insight and confidence to face the daily challenges at school, whether it is about teaching skills or using e-learning tools and educational technology. As an event, African EduWeek has truly come of age – our partnership with SABC Education has taken us to the next level, reaching our target audience in the farthest corners of the country, through its radio, TV and online outreach. We are also becoming an international education platform, where various stakeholders in the industry get together to brainstorm and network”, said African EduWeek event director Tanya Jackman after the 2014 event.

Now entering its 9th year, African EduWeek 2015, is taking place at the
Gallagher Convention Center in Midrand on the 1st and 2nd July and will showcase over 120 international exhibitors, host free-to-attend education seminars, offer a new high-level technology conference E-Tech Africa, as well as technical workshops designed to enhance teacher training and development. “The move to Gallagher enables us to offer our teachers, experts and exhibitors so many more opportunities”, says Tanya.

“The 165% increase in visitors last year with 2436 teachers and education experts attending the expo and conference, gave us the stamp of approval that we are meeting the needs of the education sector. This year we are expecting in excess of 4000 education professionals and more than 150 local and international exhibitors who will showcase their products and solutions, compared to last year’s 90.”

The African EduWeek exhibition will feature products and services for the education sector in areas that include basic education, IT, higher education, inclusive education, science and maths, safety and security, sustainability and energy efficiency and school supplies and stationery. African EduWeek draws together visitors from basic & higher education, government officials, NGOs and NPOs, buyers and resellers of education products and independent education specialists, among many others.

Keeping in line with current exhibition strategies, EduWeek will be holding a separate, paid for, conference named E-Tech Africa which is a technology focused, two-day conference that will take place alongside the Expo. The conference will provide educational professionals, principals and technology enthusiasts with first insight into the most advanced technologies through a series of conference topics delivered by industry specialists including the likes of Graeme Brown-Martin from Learning Without Frontiers, Johnathan Weltman from the Foundation for Space Development and other thought leaders from around the world.

“Our programme is beyond exciting”, says Tanya, “as we look at the importance of technology innovation in the classroom, especially in African context. We have local and global experts ready to show us the future of learning. During the opening session, local NGO Foundation for Space Development will unveil a helium balloon to be released into the earth’s stratosphere, and we will virtually visit various classrooms in the UK, South Africa and the United States to get a sneak preview into the classroom of the future!”
