World Book Day 2015

Give the gift of reading this April with World Book Day 2015.  Organised by the SA Booksellers Association, you will be able to donate childrens’ books for only R15 from participating SA Bookseller members.

On the 23^rd of April 2015, South Africa will celebrate authors, illustrators, books and more importantly, reading on World Book Day. This event is a product of UNESCO and is celebrated in more than 100 countries with the goal of encouraging a culture of reading, providing access to books and creating an appreciation for the value of books.

To celebrate this event in South Africa this year, SA Bookseller members Exclusive Books, Bargain Books and Wordsworth along with numerous independent stores around the country will have the official WBD childrens’ books available in store for only R15 from the 1st April. Some of the titles you will see are Geek Girl: Geek Drama, Magic Animal Friends, Elmer’s Parade and many more.

Customers are encouraged to buy these books and donate it to Project Literacy’s Run Home to Read by putting them in the donation bins at the counter.  Customers are also encouraged to buy more than one copy and give the gift of reading to the children in their lives and under privileged children.

While celebrating books and reading, the SA Booksellers Association will be running a competition to award the bookshops that sell the most titles as well as the shop that donates the greatest number of books to charity.
