The Bloody Book Week

The Sunday Times is excited to be a sponsor of The Bloody Book Week, South Africa’s only crime book festival, hosted by talk show host and festival pioneer and director, Jenny Crwys Williams.

Crwys-Williams, who is well-known for her influential weekly book show on Talk Radio 702, interviewing various authors of interest, saw an opportunity to delve a little deeper into the huge crime genre which inspired The Bloody Book Week, funded out of her own pocket in 2011.
“With generous sponsorship from the Sunday Times, we’ve been able to market the five day festival on a much bigger scale and it’s enabled us to put up a great website (www.thebloodybookweek.co.za) and to do so much more” says Crwys Williams.

 
Now in its second year, The Bloody Book Week festival features journalists, forensic specialists and best-selling crime writers, inviting book lovers to join a series of tutorials and discussions on the art of crime writing.

 
The festival line-up includes international crime fiction icons such as Mark Gimenez, John Connolly, and Jeffrey Deaver together with Books LIVE members Andrew Brown, Mike Nicol and Jassy Mackenzie.

 
One of the festival highlights promises to be The Bloody Book Week Masterclass which teaches you how to write your own crime fiction novel – hosted by Mike Nicol alongside Jeffrey Deaver and John Connolly – apt for those who have an affinity for ‘murder, mystery and mayhem’.
Mandy Wiener, whose book Killing Kebble made the shortlist at the 2012 Sunday Times Literary Awards will also be joining this year’s crime experts in literature.

 
The Bloody Book Week festival runs from 31 July – 05 August and will be hosted across venues in Johannesburg.
